Cardinals travel to Indianapolis for varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight and novice four races
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville rowing team will compete against outside competition for the first time this fall during Saturday's Head of the Eagle regatta at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Cardinals will have numerous crews competing in varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight and novice four events on Saturday. Racing is slated to begin at 9 a.m., ET and will continue throughout the day with the final race set for approximately 2:30 p.m.
"This is the first chance for the entire team to travel and compete together. It's pretty cool to see the traveling city come alive for the first time this season," said Louisville head coach Derek Copeland. "We will have around 80 people making the trip and we look forward to seeing the freshmen team in action for the first time. The location of this event is also nice because it allows a lot of the local parents to attend one of the first regattas as a Cardinal for a lot of the freshmen."
Saturday's racing will be the first competition on the water for the Cardinals since hosting the Red-Black Regatta on Oct. 3. The exhibition scrimmage along the Ohio River featured seven short races pairing two groups against each other.
Following Saturday's event in Indianapolis, Louisville will conclude its fall racing schedule on Nov. 15 at the University of Virginia's Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va.
