
Cardinals Finish Sixth at Northern Intercollegiate

DeKALB - The University of Louisville men's golf team completed their first tournament of the fall 2014 season Sunday, finishing in sixth place at the fifth annual Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms.
The Cardinals took sixth at the 13-team event by shooting a combined score of 897 over three rounds. The team posted rounds of 296, 306, and 295 over the weekend. Fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia placed first at the tournament, carding a team score of 897. Three shots back of Virginia, Winthrop finished second at 882, while Ohio State finished third at 892.
Senior Trevor Sluman was the Cards' highest individual finisher, closing the tournament tied for eighth place with a score of 220. Sluman ended the first round of the tournament tied for third after shooting a 2-under 70.
Outside of Sluman, three additional Cardinals placed inside the top-30 of 74-competitor field. Shooting 225, Max Walz finished tied for 21st, while JD Lehman (226), and Gus Lundquist (227) finished tied for 25th and tied for 27th, respectively. Rounding things out for the Cardinals, Antoine LeSaux shot 229 to finish tied for 32nd, and Robert Geibel shot 239 to finish at 62.
Up next for Louisville men's golf will be the ACC/SEC Challenge, which is set to take place Sept. 18-21 in Nashville, Tenn.
