(Opening statement) "It probably took us about 25 minutes to settle into the excitement of tonight, but then I think after we got a rhythm and kind of slowed things down, connected transitions, I thought we were the better team for significant portions of the game, significant minutes. With that being said I thought we created a ton of chances in the first half but couldn't finish. In the second half, we were a little bit better in the midfield, which allowed us to get some chances into the final third. Paige was absolutely fantastic in goal for us. And then certainly Chatham, it's a big-time goal for a freshman."
(On Louisville's young players contributing to tonight's win) "Yeah, and Kari Weinland is the young lady who served the ball to [Chatham]. Kari never started for us last year either so we are very, very young. There was far less growing pains tonight for the younger players, which certainly, I think allowed us to have the success that we had."
(On tonight's atmosphere, concerns of it being too big for a young team) "Yeah, absolutely. Freshmen, you don't ever know what you're going to get from them. I think the one thing they lack is consistency, so you have no idea how they're going to respond in this environment. It actually might've been better for us that it wasn't a great atmosphere for us at 5:30 p.m., but it started to trickle in after we kind of settled into the game, so maybe I need to schedule the games early more often."
(On the scoring sequence) "We had talked about winning the ball in transition and getting it wide. Our wide players, sometimes they get the ball and, on the ball, they make a decision, but the early service was in it. We talked about that all week in practice. Kari played a great ball in early service and Chatham had a clinical finish. She's exceptionally technical. That's a difficult ball to finish. That's a nice piece of skill."
(On pressure to attack early) "Not necessarily [pressure] to attack, but I think there was pressure. Certainly with younger kids and even to some extent for me because the referees made us change our uniforms, the sun was a factor, [goalkeeper Paige Brown] didn't know if she wanted to wear a hat or eye black- there was so many things that were irrelevant to the game that we had to give some attention to."
(On the uniform change) "The referees thought that our uniforms had, which we unveiled the other night, matched Ole Miss' uniform too much. They didn't think there was enough of a contrast, so they made us change into our black uniforms."
(On getting a feel for the chemistry of the team tonight) "You know what you get to do is you get to take a player who's on the sideline and show them what you want them to do. Chatham, Paige, I don't take these guys out so it's hard for them to see what we're showing them except for the 15 minutes at halftime. So [with] Kari, we had an opportunity to tell her, 'Hey, this is what's happening. Here's the way we're going to see success.' So she goes on and she sees that at that moment and she makes a great service into the box, and then Chatham is able to finish it." (On building on the first half to score in the second half) "Yeah I definitely did [feel the goal was just a matter of time]. I thought we got chances but we were nervous, almost panicked in the first half. In the second half, I thought we were a little bit more composed, probably because we created a rhythm with some possessions so they started to settle into the game, which then I think turns your confidence into composure."
(On Paige Brown) "You know what she's done exceptionally well from first year to second year, she's really doing a good job of reading the space behind the back. The save that I think is the biggest one is when she comes off of her line and she comes out and smothers that one. Last year, I'm not sure if she makes that. She might've started to go and then stop and started to go. Now she's just trusting her instincts...ridiculously athletic, but now she's kind of matched that with some of the timing and reading the game, and that's why she's able to have a good game."
(On the confidence of a freshman like Chatham scoring a goal) "Yeah, it's good for them but to be honest, the player I thought really was pivotal and allowed us to calm things down was Lexi Niedoba. She's a junior for us, and she came in up top, and really settled it down. So she's not the most athletic kids, but her touch is exceptional so anything that went into her, she was able to hold, connect, and then we could build an attack from there, and then allow players like Bella [Habuda] and Alison Price, who I thought was good tonight too- some of our younger kids- to do what they do well. But I thought Lexi was pivotal in that spot."
Chatham DeProspo, Fr., MF
(On the goal) "I don't really know how to put it into words, but it's probably the best feeling I've had in a long time. Coach [Ferguson-Dayes] believed in us. She always told us just to focus on the moment, focus on the ball, so everything around me was irrelevant at the time. I just kept my mind on getting the ball in the net. It was the best feeling I've had in a long time."
(On scoring the first goal ever in Lynn Stadium) "It hasn't really hit me yet. I don't know how to put it in words honestly. It's the most amazing feeling. It really it is. One to remember forever."
Paige Brown, So., GK (On making adjustments for the sun between the first half and second half) "To be honest, [in] the second half the sun was kind of behind the clouds so there really was no glare. I think the last maybe five minutes, it came out a little more. But I honestly think [the eye black] helped a little bit, so it wasn't too bad at all."
