LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's golf head coach Mark Crabtree announced the 2014-15 schedule on Thursday, which will be one of the more difficult slates in the program's history.
Louisville, which is preparing for its first year in the Atlantic Coast Conference, is coming off a solid season, which ended with regional appearance at Auburn a year ago.
"This is the finest and most competitive schedule in school history," Crabtree said. "It's highlighted by such events as the ACC/SEC challenge, a trip to Florida State, Vanderbilt and return visit to Kauai Hawaii. We return a lot of keys players, so I'm extremely excited about playing this schedule this year."
Louisville opens the fall season with the Northern Intercollegiate on Sept. 5-7 in Sugar Grove, Ill., before competing in one of their toughest events in the fall, the ACC-SEC Challenge on Sept. 18-21 in Nashville, Tenn.
The Cardinals will showcase its newly transformed home course, the UofL Golf Club, with the Cardinal Invitational on Sept. 29-30 in Simpsonville, Ky.
Louisville won the Cardinal Invitational in 2013 with a score of 860 after Antoine LeSeaux paced the Cardinals with a third-place overall finish.
Following its lone home event, Louisville will complete its fall schedule at the Ball State Invitational on Oct. 13-14 and will travel back to Kauai, Hawaii for the Warrior Wave Invitational. Robert Geibel will look to defend his tournament title after winning the event with a school record 201. The Cardinals finished in second place overall.
The Cardinals begin their spring campaign with the John Hayt Invitational on Feb. 27-Mar. 1 in Jacksonville, Fla. The Cardinals finished 11th overall in one of their most difficult tournaments.
The Cardinals will compete along fellow ACC opponent, Florida State in the FSU Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla., on Mar. 13-15 before traveling to Statesboro, Ga., for the Schenkel Invitational on March 20-22.
After a pair of events in April, the Cardinals will compete in the ACC Championships in New London, N.C., on April 24-26.
The NCAA Regional will be held May 14-16, with the NCAA Championship from May 29-June 3 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
