LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's golfer Robert Geibel has advanced to match play at the United States Golf Association Amateur Public Links.
Geibel, a sophomore from Pembroke Pines, Fla., advanced by shooting 68-72 on Wednesday to finish tied for tenth. Geibel will begin match play in the round of 64 Thursday, facing Andrew McCain of Tarpon Spring, Fla. at 8:20 a.m. The Public Links is being held at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kan.
In his freshman season for the Cardinals, Geibel finished with a 72.57 stroke average, earning one tournament title along the way and fourth-place finish the American Athletic Conference Championship. Geibel was named the AAC Freshman of the Year and a member of the Ping All-Midwest Region Team.
