With the 2014 season two months away, several members of the University of Louisville field hockey team are competing among the elite players in the nation as part of USA Field Hockey's High Performance Program in Lancaster, Pa. Paige Monsen, Megan Anstotz, Shannon Sloss, Stephanie Byrne and Nicole Woods will be representing the Cardinals in various championship divisions while UofL head coach Justine Sowry will be serving as a coach.
The Women's National Championship will be held June 16-21 and serves as a showcase for selection to the 2014-15 U.S. Women's National Team. Senior Paige Monsen (USA Blue), junior Megan Anstotz (Eagles) and sophomore Shannon Sloss (Courage) have been selected among 133 athletes to participate in the eight-team championship after participating in the High Performance program. Sowry will serve as a coach for the Patriots.
Sophomore Stephanie Byrne will be competing in the U21 Championship which will be held June 21-25 and incoming freshman Nicole Woods was selected to play in the Futures Elite Championship which will be played June 21-25.
