EVANSTON, Ill. - A week after competing at the conference's outdoor championships, the University of Louisville track and field teams are returning to action in Athens, Ga., at the Georgia Invitational on Saturday.

In addition to host Georgia, other teams competing with Louisville include South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Samford, Austin Peay, and Georgia Southern.

The one-day event at Spec Towns Track begins with the women's hammer throw at 9 a.m., followed by the men's competition at 10:30 a.m.

Currently, both Patrice Gates and Caitlin Gilmore, two of the four Cardinals taking part in the women's competition, rank in the top 48 in the East region. Gates leads the women's group with a No. 23 ranking. On the men's side, Louisville has four throwers competing, with Brad Vivace and Nils Westrich in the region's top 30.

In the next event at 11:45 a.m., Vivace and Steve Wade will have an opportunity to bolster their rankings in the shot put. Vivace sits at No. 54 in the region, while Wade is 62nd, just outside the top 48 to qualify for a spot at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds.

Chelsea Bingham ranks No. 60 in the region in the pole vault.

The women's pole vault is another competition in which the Cardinals can earn another spot in the preliminary rounds. Chanel Krause likely has solidified her spot for the competition at the end of May, but Chelsea Bingham is aiming to make her first appearance. Her career-best mark of 3.85m/12-7.50 is No. 60 in the region.

Louisville then has student-athletes in the men's 110m hurdles, women's shot put, and women's javelin before action on the track continues.

Taylor Bradley is scheduled to run in the 400m, while Antoine Keys is slated to take part in the men's race. Shortly after, Kayla Tyson competes in the women's 100m before Louisville sends Jermaine Parrish to the men's race.

In the final track events of the day for the Cardinals, Louisville has competitors in the women's and men's 400m hurdles and the women's and men's 200m events. Calvin Arsenault, who races earlier in the day in the 110m hurdles, ranks 17th in the region at the longer distance.

The meet concludes with the men's and women's discus.

On the women's side, Emmonnie Henderson and Dolly Nyemah rank inside the top 48, while Hannah Baker is No. 69. All three will be throwing on Saturday. Wade and Codie Hamsley also competing, are 33rd and 35th, respectively in the event.
