Division I All-America Field Hockey Selections
The University of Louisville's Alyssa Voelmle has been named to the 2014 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association first team. She becomes the eighth player in program history to earn All-America honors.
"This is an incredible honor and a tremendous accomplishment to end Alyssa's illustrious collegiate career," said UofL head coach Justine Sowry. "She epitomizes `humble and hungry' and is the embodiment of our Louisville field hockey program. I am so proud of what she has been able to achieve over her four years."
Voelmle, a senior defender from Hershey, Pa., is the second player in program history to earn first team All-America honors - Jessica Javelet was named to the first team in 2005. In addition to her most recent accolade, Voelmle is two-time NFHCA All-West Region first team member (2013 and 2014). As a senior, the 2014 all-ACC first team selection led Cardinals with 10 goals and registered 24 points. She was an all-conference team member in each of her seasons, earning first team all-BIG EAST honors in 2013 and second team honors in 2011 and 2012. The four-year starter finished her career ranked seventh among Louisville's career goals leaders with 29 and is tied for eighth in career points with 70.
