
Louisville Tops Rivals Cup Web.com Tour Rankings

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville ranks No. 1 on the Rivals Cup PGA Web.com Tour rankings following the Tour's championship.
The rankings are put together by the Rivals Cup, an organization that, in its own words, "promotes the collegiate affiliations of professional athletes by ranking NCAA programs that are having the greatest impact on professional sports."
Louisville topped the list after former Cardinals managed to earn $1,001,183 on this year's Web.com tour, led by Derek Fathauer and Adam Hadwin. Fathauer and Hadwin became two of 25 players to receive their 2014-15 PGA Tour cards following the 2014 Web.com Tour.
Fathauer, who golfed at U of L from 2004-07, won the Web.com Tour Championship in September by shooting 266 over four rounds at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Fathauer earned eight top ten finishes in 2014, while earning $468,186.
Hadwin, a Cardinal 2005-09, topped the Web.com Tour money list this year, generating $529,792. Hadwin captured nine top ten finishes in 2014, and two tour wins.
Pepperdine places second behind Louisville, with former Waves earning a total of $942,850. Alabama ($765,933), North Texas ($515,404), and Auburn ($484,821) round out the list's top five.
Additionally, Louisville's placement atop the rankings helped place the Atlantic Coast Conference third among conferences. Clemson (No. 14), Florida State (No. 20), and Wake Forest (No. 25) also made ranked within the top 25. The Conference accumulated $1,274,124 in earnings, behind only the SEC ($3,367,011) and Conference USA ($1,602,794).
Along with topping the Web.com Tour rankings, Louisville ranks No. 13 on the Rivals Cup current PGA Tour rankings. Louisville is one of seven schools from the ACC included in the top 15 of the rankings, joining Clemson (No. 2), Duke (No. 4), Georgia Tech (No. 5), Virginia Tech (No. 6), Florida State (No .7), and Wake Forest (No. 10).
