LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Former University of Louisville golfer Adam Hadwin shot a two-day total of 132 (-9) at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md. to qualify for the 113th U.S. Open.
Hadwin turned in rounds of 65 and 67 and ended the qualifier tied atop the leaderboard.
Turned professional in 2009, Hadwin began competing on the Canadian Tour in 2010 and is currently playing a full season on the Web.com Tour based on his 2012 results.
The 25 year old is a two-time winner on the Canadian Tour and has now played in 36 career Web.com Tour events with 10 top 25 finishes and a scoring average of 71.09.
He appeared in his first major tournament in 2011 after qualifying for the 111th U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club near Washington, D.C. where he made the cut and finished the tournament as the low Canadian in a tie for 39th.
During his time at Louisville, Hadwin put up record-book type numbers.
He is one of three golfers in school history to earn All-Conference honors three times, being named to the All-BIG EAST team in 2007- 09.
He recorded eight top 10 finishes in the 2008-2009 season, a mark that current freshman golfer Robin Sciot-Siegrist just tied, putting them in a tie for third in UofL's single-season history.
One of those top 10 finishes came in the BIG EAST Championships where Hadwin won the individual title, giving him his first career win and becoming the third Cardinal golfer to win a BIG EAST title.
In winning an individual title, Hadwin also led the team to its second ever BIG EAST Championship in 2009.
Hadwin was named in All-American Honorable Mention for his impressive play throughout the 2008-2009 season.
He currently stands second all-time with a 73.25 career stroke average and third all-time with 21 career top 10 finishes.
Hadwin will travel to Ardmore, Pa. next week and compete in the 113th U.S. Open, which will be held June 13-16 at Merion Golf Club.
