LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team had three student-athletes receive league postseason honors, BIG EAST Conference officials announced Thursday afternoon.
Freshmen Robin Sciot-Siegrist and Gus Lundquist and sophomore Max Walz consisted of Louisville's all-BIG EAST recipients.
"I'm proud of all three players and their accomplishments throughout the year," head Mark Crabtree said. "With Robin and Gus being freshmen, and Max being a sophomore, we're excited for what they will bring in the coming years to the Cardinals."
Sciot-Siegrist, who qualified for the NCAA Regionals on May 16-18 in Columbus, Ohio, tied for seventh at the BIG EAST Championships last week in Orlando, Fla. The three-time BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week appeared in all 11 events and topped the squad with a freshman school record of eight top-10 finishes, which is tied for third on UofL's all-time single-season list.
He led the Cardinals with a 72.8 stroke average and had six rounds in the 60s and 10 rounds under par. He earned co-medalist honors at the Boilermaker Invitational, averaging 72.8 strokes per round. Playing in his first tournament on his home course, Sciot-Siegrist tied for third at the Cardinal Intercollegiate with a two-day total of a 3-under par 213.
Lundquist, who hails from Parker, Colo., finished the year with a 74.8 stroke average in eight appearances. He is coming off one of his best performances at the BIG EAST Championship, finishing in a tie for seventh with a 1-over par for the three-day tournament.
Walz ended the season with a 74.0 stroke average and recorded five top-10 finishes, including a season-best second at the Memphis Intercollegiate. He carded a 2-under par 208 at the McLaughlin to place third and finished seventh at the WKU/Kenny Perry Invitational.
The Cardinals ended their regular season with a fourth-place finish at the BIG EAST Championships in Orlando, Fla.
