University of Louisville field hockey coach Justine Sowry has announced the 2013 Spring Field Hockey Schedule.
"We are so excited to begin our spring competition," said U of L head coach Justine Sowry. "We have had an extremely productive and competitive preparation where each of our student-athletes have been extended and challenged. There has been exceptional growth as a program and now we have an opportunity to put it together as a team against quality opponents."
The Cards will open Spring League play April 6-7 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to face Kent State, Ohio State and Miami (Ohio).
The following weekend, the Cardinals will welcome 11 visiting teams to Trager Stadium on Saturday, April 13. Among those teams are Spring League participants Michigan State, Central Michigan, Indiana and Kent State. On April 14, Louisville will hold a 7 v 7 tournament with 12 participating teams.
"Our two-day tournament at Trager Stadium will be a great weekend for the Louisville field hockey fans to come out and see some great competition," said Sowry.
U of L will wrap up the spring season with the 2013 Alumnae Day on April 20. Following the 2 p.m. game, the team and former players/attendees will gather to watch the annual Thunder Over Louisville as part of the 2013 Kentucky Derby Festival.
"Our annual Alumnae event will allow our past and present student-athletes to share experiences and also the day will no doubt provide some entertaining hockey," said Sowry.
