LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville rowing program debuted at No. 18 in the season's first CRCA/USRowing Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday.
The ranking is the Cardinals' third highest in school history and the best since the coaches' poll began ranking schools based on their top three boats (varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four) rather than the varsity eight only. Louisville's highest ranking ever came in March 2007 when the Cardinals' varsity eight boat was ranked 16th in the nation. Later in 2007 and once in 2009, UofL's varsity eight crew was ranked 17th nationally, the program's second best ranking.

Louisville opened the 2013 season last weekend at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational where they won four races overall and were very competitive against a pair of nationally ranked programs in No. 1 Virginia and No. 14 Notre Dame.
Up next, the 18th-ranked Cardinals will have a week away from competition before returning to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to compete against Tennessee on Saturday, March 30.
