Cardinals 3-0 For First Time Since '06
- With the win over North Carolina last Saturday, the Cardinals are 3-0 for the first time since the 2006 season, when Louisville opened the year at 8-0 before falling to Rutgers. The Cardinals went on to finish 12-1, which included a 24-13 win over Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl.
- The Cardinals won three home games in a row for the first time under head coach Charlie Strong. The three-game home winning streak is the first since 2009, when Louisville defeated Southern Mississippi (25-23), Arkansas State (21-13) and Syracuse (10-9).
Cardinals Dominate Tar Heels in First Half
- The Cardinals secured their third win of the season in the first half against North Carolina. Louisville raced out to a 36-7 lead at the break, tallying 360 yards of total offense, including 218 through the air.
- Sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was terrific in the first half, going 16-of-19 for 218 yards and three touchdowns - hitting Charles Gaines for 32 yards, Eli Rogers for 15 yards and Nick Heuser from four yards out.
- Louisville limited UNC to 167 yards of total offense, including 11 yards on the ground. Louisville turned North Carolina over twice, notching a fumble recovery and the first career interception by Marcus Smith.
Third-Down Teddy
- Sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater continues to produce on third down this season. Through three contests, Bridgewater is 17-for-21 for 253 yards and a pair of scores. He was a solid 6-for-8 for 93 yards and a score in the 39-34 win over North Carolina. He entered the UNC game, going 11-for-13 this season for 160 yards and one touchdown on that down.
We All Score
- Louisville has found the end zone 13 times this year, but the great thing about that is eight different players have reached pay dirt. Junior Jeremy Wright leads the Cardinals with four scores -- all on the ground, while junior Senorise Perry has tallied three touchdowns. A total of six other players vehave crossed the goal line this year for the Cardinal offense.
Bridgewater Ties Career High
- Louisville sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tied a career high with three touchdown passes in the win against North Carolina. Bridgewater tossed three first-half touchdowns against the Tar Heels, tying his best of three touchdown passes against NC State in the Belk Bowl last season. In his last five games, the signal-caller has thrown 10 touchdowns with three interceptions.
