
Field Hockey Set to Face Central Michigan Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team will travel to East Lansing, Mich., for the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational Sept. 14-16. The Cards will face Central Michigan (3-2) Friday at 4 p.m.
American University (2-4) and host No. 20 Michigan State (3-3) are slated to play at 6 p.m. Friday. Sunday's schedule will feature the consolation game at 11 a.m. with the championship game following at 1 p.m.
The Cardinals (4-2) are coming off of a 2-1 win over Ohio University. Elisa Garcia put the Cards on the scoreboard and Paige Monsen delivered the game-winner. Prior to that game, the Cards suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to host Indiana on Friday. Goals by Becca Maddock and Erin Schneidtmiller gave Louisville a 2-1 lead in the second half, but the Hoosiers evened the score with eight minutes left to play and delivered the deciding goal just 1:11 into the overtime period.
Louisville is led offensively by sophomore Becca Maddock's nine points (4G, 1A). Junior Erin Schneidtmiller follows with four goals for eight points. Senior Erin Conrad (4-2) carries a 1.66 goals-against average with one shutout.

Last Meeting: Aug. 29, 2010 - Nicole Youman tied a school record with five goals to help lead the No. 13 University of Louisville field hockey team to a 9-0 win over Central Michigan in the consolation game of the Champions Challenge hosted by Michigan State.
Scouting the Chippewas: Central Michigan enters the weekend with a 3-2 record, most recently losing 2-1 to No. 11 Stanford. Prior to that, the Chippewas defeated No. 22 Maine by a score of 1-0. Erin Dye leads CMU with nine points (4G, 1A). Anastasia Netto carries a 2.20 goals against average and was most recently named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
American University
Sept. 16, East Lansing, Mich. - 11 a.m./1 p.m.
Series Record: Louisville leads 2-1
Last Meeting: Sept. 18, 2011 - Elizabeth Vance scored the only goal as Louisville posted its fourth straight shutout in a 1-0 win over host No. 17 American University.
Scouting the Eagles: American enters the weekend with a 2-4 record and coming off a 2-1 upset win over No. 19 Massachusetts in double overtime. It was their second straight win as they previously defeated Dartmouth 3-0. Alex McMackin leads the Eagles with six points (3G, 0A). Ashley Dalisera carries a 1.69 goals against average with one shutout.
Michigan State

Series Record: Michigan State leads 9-2
Last Meeting: Aug. 28, 2011 - Haley Jurich scored the game winner for No. 16 Louisville in a 2-1 win over No. 13 Michigan State at Trager Stadium. Scouting the Spartans: Michigan State enters the weekend with a 3-3 record, previously dropping a 3-1 decision to No. 14 Northeastern. Prior to that, the Spartans were defeated 2-1 by No. 6 Virginia in double overtime. The Spartans are led by Abby Barker with eight points (4G, 0A). Molly Cassidy carries a 1.67 goals against average with a .855 saves percentage.
Maddock and Conrad Named to BIG EAST honor roll
Sophomore Becca Maddock and senior Erin Conrad were named to the BIG EAST honor roll on Sept. 10. Maddock led the Cardinals offensively with five points (2G, 1A) as they went 2-1 on the week. Maddock scored a goal and added an assist in the 5-0 win over Ball State. She also scored in the 3-2 overtime loss at Indiana.
Conrad recorded 19 saves and one shutout to help the Cards to a 2-1 record on the week. Conrad posted three saves en route to her first shutout of the season in the 5-0 win over Ball State. She collected seven stops in the 3-2 overtime loss to Indiana and nine saves in the 3-1 win over Ohio.

This weekend wraps up a four-game road swing for the Cards who will return to Trager Stadium to open BIG EAST Conference play against Georgetown on Friday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.
