
Walz has Strong Start at Omega Masters

CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland - University of Louisville men's golfer Max Walz opened competition at the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana, Switzerland on Thursday with a 2-under 69.
Walz, who posted two top 10 finishes for the Cardinals last season, is currently tied for 33rd in the field which features some of the top professionals in the world. Walz posted a lower first-round score than the other six amateurs in the field.
Walz's scorecard consisted of birdies on holes five, seven, nine, 16 and 18; 10 pars and three bogeys.
France's Gregory Bourdy leads the field at 8-under par.
Walz will tee off for the second round at 3:30 a.m., EDT.
