
Field Hockey to Host Indiana in Friday's Preseason Scrimmage

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville field hockey team will play host to Indiana in a preseason scrimmage Friday, Aug. 17 at 12 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
After reporting for their first practice on Wednesday, Aug. 8 the Cardinals will put their skills to an early test when the Hoosiers pay a visit with one week remaining until the season officially starts.
The Cards are coming off of a 10-9 campaign in which they reached the BIG EAST semifinals for the seventh straight year. Louisville returns seven starters including All-BIG EAST preseason selections senior goalkeeper Erin Conrad, sophomore defender Dominique Pasqualichio and sophomore midfielder Alyssa Voelmle - and welcomes the addition of eight newcomers to this year's squad.
The Hoosiers finished the 2011 season with a 9-8 record and earned the No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, where they fell to Iowa in the first round.
The teams will meet again in the regular season on Sept. 7 in Bloomington.
The Cards will open the 2012 season when they host the Sherrill Brakmeier Classic Aug 24-26 at Trager Stadium. Louisville will face Northeastern on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.
