LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Each week, UofLsports.com will unveil one member from the University of Louisville women's lacrosse's 2012-13 recruiting class. This week, Maryland native Blair Bernhardt is in the spotlight.
"Blair is a rock on the defensive end," head coach Kellie Young said. "She plays with a passion and grit that cannot be coached; it is innate. I am excited to see all that Blair will accomplish in her days in The Ville."
An Annapolis resident, Bernhardt attended Broadneck High and competed for the lacrosse and swimming teams. While there, she was the swimming team captain. A regional champion and state honorable mention recipient, Bernhardt won awards for team spirit and best sportsmanship. She also played water polo, a sport in which she competed at the Junior Olympics.
She is one of four children and both parents were collegiate athletes. Her mother, Lori, was a swimmer at East Carolina and was invited to the Olympic Trials in the sport. Her father, Dave, played lacrosse and sprint football at the Naval Academy.
