Women's Golf Begins BIG EAST Championship Play on Sunday

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville women's golf team travels to the BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship on April 22-24 at Reunion Resort, hosted by Reunion and USF. The 10th women's championship will be held at the Watson Course for the first time in championship history. Last year Notre Dame won its fourth BIG EAST title since 2003. Louisville and Notre Dame have won a combined eight BIG EAST titles in the event's nine year history.
Louisville enters the championship at No. 3 in the BIG EAST while ranked No. 63 in the nation. The Cardinals have finished in the top-10 at seven of nine tournaments this season. Senior Anna-Karin Ljungstrom has one top-10 finish heading into the BIG EAST Championship. She has shot a season-low 72 three times this season. She missed the Cards' last tournament while recovering from thumb surgery. Freshman Emily Haas leads the Cardinals in scoring with a 75.8 average on the year. She shot a collegiate low of 69 in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. Her best finish was tied for 10th in the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge. The Cardinals have three freshmen in the lineup this season. True freshman Emily Haas, and redshirt freshmen Katie Petrino and Sara Karlsson have all seen time in the Cardinal lineup.
The first round of the BIG EAST Championship will begin on April 22 with the first tee time at 8 a.m. The pairings are done by Golfstat Rankings. Please find the first round schedule below:
