
Men's Golf Leads Field at Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The University of Louisville men's golf team sits on top of the leader board after 36 holes at the 15-team Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational on Saturday. Louisville shot a 362 in the first round and a 355 in the second round for a total of 717. The Cardinals hold a 21 stroke advantage over second place Ball State.
The Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational is a six player tournament with the lowest five scores counting. It is being held at the 6,438-yard par 70 Delaware Country Club.
Junior Chris Malec leads the field. Malec fired par in the first round before a 2-under 68 to finish the day at 138. Senior Justin Dorward fired a 1-under 69 in the first round before a 1-over 71 in the second round. Dorward is tied for second after carding a 140.
Senior Chris Biuso and freshman Henry Tomlinson are both tied for 13th after two round totals of 147. Biuso carded a 75 in the first round before improving three strokes for a 2-over 72 in the second round. Tomlinson fired a 76 in the first round and a 71 in the second.
Maximilian Walz is currently tied for 21st. The freshman fired rounds of 76 and 73 for a total of 149. Daniel Iceman rounded out the Cardinals' lineup. Iceman fired a 72 in the first round before a 79 in the second round. Iceman is tied for 28th after a two-round score of 15.
The third round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Live scoring is available through GolfStat.com. Louisville will be looking to secure its first team title since the 2009 BIG EAST Championship.
