Men's Golf Adds Three to Recruiting Class

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - University of Louisville men's golf coach Mark Crabtree announced the additions of the three early signees to the 2013 recruiting class.
Robert Geibel of Pembroke Pines, Fla., J.D. Lehman of Okatie, S.C., and Ben Montgomery of Louisville, Ky., have all signed with the Cardinals, according to Crabtree.
"Our 2013 class of signees is real good one," said Crabtree. "We have attracted three outstanding fits for the program. Each of them is excellent in the classroom, and has very bright futures as collegiate golfers. "They have definitely strengthened the team overall. Each of them will challenge for travel squad spots immediately."
Geibel, who attended American Heritage High School, was the ranked 53rd player in the NJGS. He was the winner of the 2011 Bubba Conlee Junior championship by firing 65-70-71 and qualified for match play at the 2012 U.S. Junior championships. Last season, he was runner-up at the Florida High School 1A championship and was the winner of the 2012 Qdoba Tournament of Champions.
"Robert has had an excellent junior career highlighted by his win at the prestigious Bubba Conlee in 2011," said Crabtree. "A top 50 player in the country, Robert recently finished his high school career with a runner-up finish in the Florida state high school championships. A USGA Junior Amateur qualifier this past summer, he advanced to the match play portion of the event. He has a very bright future."
Lehman, who played scholastically at Hilton Head Christian Academy, was the winner of the 2012 AJGA Stonehenge Open and was second at the South Carolina state junior championship. He was also 10th at the Bobby Chapman championship.
"J.D. is an impressive young man and we are very pleased to have him joining the program," said Crabtree. "He is the complete student-athlete being at the very top of his senior class academically. I think J.D. has tremendous upside and will make a huge impact at the collegiate golf level. His resume includes a win at the 2012 AJGA Stonehenge Open (71-66-70) and a runner-up finish at the South Carolina State Junior championship (76-74-67)."
Montgomery, who attended Christian Academy, tied for fourth at the AJGA Stonehenge Open by shooting 72-68-71. He was also second on the Golfweek Junior Tour and was fifth at the Kentucky High School Championship.
"I'm pleased to have Ben as a Cardinal," said Crabtree. "He is undoubtedly one of best junior players in our state and a high quality young man. His love of the game, passion, and willingness to be a learner really stood out to me. His best golf is certainly ahead of him. His 2012 season included a fifth-place finish at the Kentucky state high school championships as well as a runner-up at a Golfweek Tour event(70-71-71) and a 4th at the AJGA Stonehenge Open(72-68-71)."
