LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team is preparing for an action-filled weekend as it prepares to embark on its sixth season in school history this year.
Tonight at 6:30 p.m., the Cardinals will host their annual banquet and distribute, based on the 2012 season, the following awards: most valuable player, most improved player, unsung hero, rookie of the year, and coach's award.
On Saturday, Oct. 13, Louisville's current squad will square off against past letterwinners in an alumnae game at 11 a.m. Last year, the first alumnae game in program history, the Cardinals cruised to a 19-8 victory. Nikki Boltja led the charge with a three scores for the winning team. The game will be held at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium prior to football's 3:30 p.m. kick off against USF at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing our Cardinal alumnae this weekend," head coach Kellie Young said. "Our past, present and future are who we are - our family. This is an important event connecting everyone and bringing everyone together."
Louisville concludes the weekend's events with a golf scramble on Sunday, Oct. 14, in conjunction with the Cardinals' field hockey team. At 11 a.m., both teams will hold an auction, and golfing at the Oxmoor Country Club is set for a noon start. Those interested in participating in the golfing event can contact women's lacrosse director of operations, Patty Norton, via email (dennison@louisville.edu).
