Toronto, Ontario - Former University of Louisville men's golfer Adam Hadwin was named the Male Professional of the Year by the Golf Journalists Association of Canada.
The year-end GJAC vote is conducted amongst golf journalists from across Canada and internationally who cover golf for a broad spectrum of media including newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and the internet.
"Recognizing outstanding achievement at the professional and amateur levels of the game is one of the primary mandates of the Golf Journalists Association of Canada each year," said GJAC President Garry McKay. "The winners in 2011 comprise a talented group of individuals whose best days on the golf course are still very much ahead. We congratulate each one of them on their season and wish them the best as they embark on 2012."
A full time member of the Canadian Tour in 2011, Hadwin's brilliant summer run of golf thrilled Canadians coast to coast. The Abbotsford, British Columbia native finished tied for 31st at the U.S. Open at Congressional before putting himself in position to win the RBC Canadian Open in Vancouver, where he finished tied for fourth.
Hadwin also had a seventh-place showing at the PGA Tour's Frys.com Open and won the 2011 Pacific Colombia championship. Hadwin closed the year the highest ranked Canadian golfer on the Official World Golf Rankings at 214.
