Hadwin Wins Vancouver Open

Former University of Louisville All-American Adam Hadwin raced out to a large lead, but did hang on to win the Vancouver Open at Fraserview Golf Course.
Hadwin battled a all day and had to come from behind before beating Brad Clapp of Kamloops on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.
"Obviously the first two days were some great golf and I separated myself," said Hadwin, who had opened the 54-hole event with a pair of 65s. "But I knew I had to play good golf [Sunday] as well and I just didn't. I hit it unbelievable today and I gave myself so many looks at birdie. But I had five three-putts and couldn't capitalize on all my chances."
Hadwin lost his lead on the par 5 12th hole, when he three-putted for bogey to fall to 11-under and into a tie with Clapp. Instead of heading to the 13th tee after missing his short par putt, Hadwin walked in the other direction and into the woods.
"Yeah, I had a chat with the putter," he said. "I just told it to behave and start going in. It didn't work, but I was able to hit some good shots when I needed to coming in."
Hadwin fell to 10-under when he three-putted the par 3 16th hole and had to birdie the par 5 18th to force the playoff with Clapp, who was playing in the group in front of him.
Hadwin actually had a chance to win the tournament on the 18th hole when he put his second shot from about 190 yards to within six feet of the pin. But he couldn't sink the eagle putt.
"I had a six-footer for eagle to win it on the final hole and still couldn't get it done," he said. "But I was able to squeak it out."
Hadwin won it with a three-foot birdie putt on the first hole of the playoff, which was played on No. 18 with darkness falling. He managed to get it up and down from just off the green for birdie, while Clapp missed his birdie putt from about eight feet.
