
Men's Golf Sits in Fourth Place at Cardinal Intercollegiate

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - UALR fired a 5-under 283 to hold a four-stroke lead over Northern Illinois after one round at the Cardinal Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon at the par-72, 6,956-yard Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
UALR's Nicklaus Benton and Eastern Kentucky's Brian Fister each fired first-round scores of 67 to hold the lead after the first round. Justin Dorward of Louisville and Alfred Kerstis of UALR are tied for third and one shot out of the lead after shooting 68 on Monday afternoon.
The University of Louisville currently stands in fourth place, just nine shots off the pace with its score of 292. DePaul is in third at 2-over par 290 and there is a four-way tie for fifth place with Austin Peay, Bowling Green, Wisconsin and Dayton, who each shot 294.
Nick Umholtz and Chris Malec are tied for 32nd place after both fired first-round scores of 74 for the Cardinals. Henry Tomlinson is tied for 53rd after shooting 76. Daniel Iceman is tied for 65th place after his 77.
The 18-team tournament field played only one round on Monday as rain washed away the first round.
The second round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 Tuesday morning.
