LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After conducting its first two-a-day session on Thursday, the Louisville football team continued its preseason camp with a single practice on Friday morning at the grass practice fields.
Here are some notes from the Friday practice:
- The Cardinals worked 25 periods in full pads while preparing for their first scrimmage of the fall on Saturday.
- Junior Will Stein, sophomore Dominique Brown and freshman Teddy Bridgewater split the reps at quarterback on Friday.
- Freshman defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin has returned to practice after suffering a neck injury earlier in the week.
- Senior running back Victor Anderson has been effective running between the tackles and has been one of the best receivers out of the backfield. Offensive coordinator Mike Sanford stated he wants to get Victor the ball in space.
- Junior Alex Kupper seems to have settled in at a tackle position. Defensive line coach Clint Hurtt, who sees his group compete against the offensive linemen on a daily basis, thinks Kupper is rapidly becoming a good tackle.
- Freshman Aaron Epps, who is being groomed to be an offensive tackle, has already added 30 pounds to his 6-foot-7 frame.
- The Cardinals will return to the practice fields on Saturday with their second two-a-day session of the preseason.
- The team will receive a much-needed off day from preseason drills on Sunday.
