Clements and Dorward Earn All-BIG EAST Accolades

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team placed two players on the 2011 All-BIG EAST team, the league announced Thursday.
Senior Karsten Clements and junior Justin Dorward were the two award winners for the Cardinals, who placed second at the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championships last week.
Clements closed a solid career by earning All-League accolades for the second time in his career. He finished second on the team in stroke average this season at 73.8. He posted three top 10 finishes, including a second-place finish last week at the BIG EAST Championships. He also placed seventh at the ODU Tournament earlier this year.
The product of Elizabethtown, Ky., recorded seven top-10 finishes in his career and ended with a 74.4 career stroke average.
Dorward also earned accolades after posting a team-best 73.6 average and also had three finishes in the top 10. He was second at the UALR Tournament and was ninth at ODU.
After claiming the 2011 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship title, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish added more hardware to their trophy case by earning all three major BIG EAST postseason awards, announced by the conference office on Thursday. Junior Max Scodro was named BIG EAST Player of the Year, freshman Niall Platt earned Freshman of the Year honors and head coach Jim Kubinski was named Coach of the Year. The awards were voted on by the 12 conference coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Also garnering recognition was Notre Dame junior Chris Walker, rounding out three Irish players on the All-BIG EAST team. Seton Hall sophomore Brandon Park and Marquette senior Kelly Kretz each earned their second-straight All-BIG EAST selections.
