LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville field hockey coach Justine Sowry has announced that seven student-athletes will join the Cardinals in the fall of 2011. The incoming freshman class: Hannah Boyle, Sidney King, Becca Maddock, Mallory Mason, Paige Monsen, Katlyn Soucy and Alyssa Voelmle features players from Kentucky, California, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.
"I am excited to introduce seven well-rounded, respected, and hard working young women to the 2011 Louisville Field Hockey roster," said Sowry. "This incoming group is extremely balanced, athletic, and versatile. With the ability to play multiple positions on the field hockey pitch, these incoming freshmen will give the 2011 squad great depth and flexibility.
"Even though the program has just undergone a recent coaching transition, it is evident these student-athletes are motivated and committed to being a part of the Cardinal program. Each athlete is the product of a quality and well-respected high school or club program which has prepared each of them for the rigors and demands of Division I competition.
"With this class, comes high expectation. Their athleticism and their competitiveness will allow each of them to contend for positions in their first year at Louisville.
"I am excited to begin the next chapter in Louisville Field Hockey history. As we forge ahead, together we will look to create our own identity, set specific goals, and embrace a new beginning. The next few years will be crucial in the development of this program as we strive for a BIG EAST Championship and beyond."
