
Women's Lacrosse Meets No. 7 Stanford

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 18-ranked University of Louisville women's lacrosse team will tangle with seventh-ranked Stanford on Thursday, March 24, in a battle of two of the seven undefeated teams at the Division I level. Start time is schedule for 5 p.m. at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium.
The Cardinals (6-0) last played on March 19, cruising past Manhattan, 20-2. Liz Lovejoy led the attack, scoring five goals on five shots, while collecting one ground ball and winning one draw control. Emily Dashiell, the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, had a remarkable all-around performance, netting four goals, while tallying six ground balls and five draw controls. Lianne Bobal and Bergan Foley each scored three goals. Katie Oliverio set the school record with eight assists.
Stanford defeated Cincinnati, 20-8, on March 22 on the road to improve to 7-0. Sarah Flynn registered a team-best five goals, while recording four draw controls. Lauren Schmidt had four goals, and Leslie Foard added three. The Cardinal offense dominated possession, registering 40 shots and scoring seven free-position goals. The squad collected 16 ground balls and forced Cincinnati into 17 turnovers. Annie Read and Lyndsey Munoz split time in goal, with Read earning the win.
Both teams are highlighted by a strong balance on the offensive and defensive ends, as Louisville ranks second in scoring offense (16.83 goals per game), and Stanford entered the week seventh in the category (15.83 goals per game). The Cardinals are fifth nationally in scoring defense, while Stanford is 24th. Stanford has tallied 63 caused turnovers, which is 15th nationally.
The Cardinal squad is under the direction of Amy Bokker, who's in her third year with the program. She has guided Stanford to a 36-10 overall record. Foard leads the squad in goals (19), points (25) and draw controls (17). Annie Read has played a majority of the time in goal, recording more than 326 minutes, boasting a 9.18 goals-against average.
