Louisville's Trager Stadium Set to Host NCAA National Championship

The field has been set for the 2011 NCAA Division I Field Hockey semifinals. North Carolina, Old Dominion, Connecticut and Maryland will travel to the University of Louisville's Trager Stadium to compete for the national championship Nov. 18 and 20.
Top-seeded North Carolina will face third-seeded Connecticut Friday's first semifinal game Friday at 2 p.m. Second-seeded Old Dominion will play Maryland in the second semifinal slated for 4:30 p.m. The title game will be held Sunday at noon. All games will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
This will mark the fourth time U of L's Trager Stadium has been selected as the host site for the national championship. Louisville also held the championship in 2002, 2005 and 2008.

About the 2011 NCAA Championship Field
North Carolina
North Carolina (22-1) earned the tournament's overall No. 1 seed. The Tarheels posted a 5-0 record in Atlantic Coast Conference play en route to the regular season and tournament titles. 2011 NCAA Tournament: North Carolina was selected as a host site for the first and second rounds and cruised through with a 4-0 victory over Ohio and a 5-1 win over Michigan.
Players to Watch: Junior Kelsey Kolojejchick was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year and Caitlin Van Sickle was tabbed the league Defensive Player of the Year. Senior Katelyn Falgowski junior Katie Ardrey and freshman Sassi Ammer were all-conference selections.

Old Dominion
Old Dominion (22-2) is the No. 2 seed in the tournament field. The Monarchs posted an 8-0 record in the Colonial Athletic Conference and claimed their second straight and 15th overall league title.
2011 NCAA Tournament: ODU was selected as a host site for the first and second rounds. The Monarchs defeated Ohio State 5-0 in their opening game and edged Duke 2-1 to reach this weekend's semifinals.
Players to Watch: Senior Emma Batten was named CAA Player of the Year and the conference tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Senior Stephanie Kratzer, junior Christy Longacre and sophomore Kati Nearhouse also earned All-CAA honors.

Connecticut
Connecticut (19-2) went undefeated at 6-0 in BIG EAST Conference play to win the regular season title and finished runner-up in the league tournament after suffering a 3-2 loss to host Syracuse.Mbr> 2011 NCAA Tournament: UConn was selected as a host site for the first and second rounds. The Huskies defeated Princeton and Penn State each by a 3-2 margin to reach the semifinals.
Players to Watch: Jestine Angelini was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year while Chloe Hunnable was tabbed the league Rookie of the Year. Six other players: Marie Elena Bolles, Rayell Heistand, Anne Jeute, Sarah Mansfield, Alicia Angelini and Ali Blankmeyer earned all-conference honors.

Maryland
Maryland (17-4) finished the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season with a 4-1 league, placing them second behind North Carolina. The Terrapins reached the ACC Tournament semifinals where they fell 2-1 to Duke.
2011 NCAA Tournament: Maryland was selected as a host site for the first and second round and picked up a 4-2 win over Iowa and upended the tournament's No. 3 seed Syracuse 2-1 in overtime to reach the semifinals. Players to Watch: Senior Jemma Buckley, juniors Megan Frazer and Harriet Tibble, sophomores Ali McEvoy and Jill Witmer were named to the All-ACC teams.
