LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Twenty-two University of Louisville women's lacrosse student-athletes were recognized this week for their academic achievements, being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for achieving at least a grade-point average of 3.0.
Of the 22 student-athletes honored, 13 of them earned Red & Black Scholar Athlete status for maintaining at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average.
"Our academic performance this fall was a milestone for the program," head coach Kellie Young says. "We have always had student-athletes who consistently excelled in the classroom, but never the entire team. Last semester, each athlete made academics a main priority in their lives and gave each class its rightful attention. I am so proud of the team for finding balance in academics, lacrosse and life and thankful that a new standard of academic excellence has been set by the women of Louisville lacrosse."
Along with the other Louisville athletes, members of the lacrosse team were recognized at halftime of the Jan. 19 men's basketball game against St. John's.
