Rowing Opens Fall at Lemonhead Regatta

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The University of Louisville rowing team opened the 2010 fall racing season with one win and another first-place tie at the Lemonhead Regatta on Saturday at Lake Lemon.
The Lemonhead Regatta, hosted by Indiana University, was a three-mile trial style race featuring crews from the Cardinals and Hoosiers.
In the Collegiate 4+ race, Louisville's "A" boat led the way with a time of 17 minutes, 57 seconds, while Indiana's "A" boat was second at 18:00. The Hoosiers' "B" boat was third with a time of 18:30, while the Cardinals' "B" crew finished fourth at 18:41.
In the Collegiate 8+ race, Louisville's "A" crew and Indiana's "A" crew raced to a tie as each boat crossed the finish line with a time of 17:04. The Cardinals' "B" boat was third overall with a time of 17:45, while the Hoosiers' "B" boat was fourth at 17:59.
Up next, the Louisville women's rowing program will host the Fourth Annual Red and Black Day on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Cardinal Boathouse in downtown Louisville.
