University of Louisville lacrosse goalie Danielle Pawliw was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week this week for her performance against Cincinnati, Old Dominion and Longwood last week. This was the first time this season a Cardinal has been named Defensive Player of the Week by the BIG EAST in lacrosse.
Pawliw, a native of Plainview N.Y., totaled 33 saves while only allowing 27 goals en route to the Cardinals' 3-0 week. She set a single-game school record with 16 saves against Old Dominion on April 2nd. Pawliw became the first goalie in Louisville lacrosse history to win three games in a single week, and is the first freshman goalie in school history to win three games in a row twice in the same season.
Attacker Bergan Foley was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this week for her 12 goal performance, including six goals against Longwood on April 4th. Foley, a Tewaaraton Watch List member, recorded her tenth career game with at least six goals scored in U of L's 17-10 triumph over the Lancers. This marked Foley's second time this season on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
The Cardinals (7-3) return home on Friday to host Loyola, Md. (8-4) at 1 p.m. at U of L Lacrosse Stadium.
