Sophomore Heather Stevens provides the final blog from Team Cardinal's Spring Break - Argentina trip.
Today was our second to last day in Argentina! Nothing was scheduled for the morning, so we got to sleep in! We all had the hotel breakfast, the same that we have had for five days straight...and we all still love it! We were all talking about the yummy chocolate cereal and bread that we will miss when we are home. After our fresh fruit and some more ham and cheese, most of the team went to the roof to soak in some sun before we return to 30 degree weather.
The sun bathing attempt failed with the 10 am sun not beaming bright enough, we went our separate ways. Some girls did some last minute shopping, while others visited La Boca. The girls raved about the beautiful, colorful houses, tango dancers, and great food in that area.
Around 5 pm we loaded the bus for our final match in Buenos Aires. We went to the University of Buenos Aires to battle for our first win...and we did! Birthday girl Rachel Hollenbach scored the first goal of the night. Amber Thomas had a hat-trick, Nicole Youman scored 2 and Tuli Lim scored 1. It was an impressive match by all of the Cards. The player of the game was Karah Nall for her great leadership on the backfield. The runner up players of the game were Britt Broady and Abbey Heird for umpiring the game. They both had a great performance and were completely unbiased!
After our win, we exchanged pins and took pictures with the opposing team. Once we got back to the hotel we only had about an hour to prepare for the tango show dinner. The team dressed to the nines and looked fantastic. The venue for the tango show was beautiful! It was an old-style opera house, but with dinner tables instead of just seats. We were also served a 3-course meal, including dessert, of course. The show was amazing! The women changed their costumes at least 10 times and their dancing kept the audience entertained. There were four male dancers and four female, along with two singers with wonderful voices. After about an hour of tango and eating, we returned to the hotel.
Although it was 12:30 am when we finally arrived at the hotel, the team had a birthday cake for Rachel and sang Happy Birthday one more time! It was another long day filled with fun. We are all so sad to leave Buenos Aires and wish we had a few mores days to spend in this wonderful city.
That is it from Heather in the locker room! Hope you have enjoyed these updates! We will see you all soon when we return to the Ville!
