
Bustanoby Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

University of Louisville field hockey senior goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the 2009-10 season. Bustanoby becomes the third U of L field hockey player to earn the scholarship, joining Jessica Javelet (2006-07) and Christy Hershey (2003-04).
The NCAA awarded 58 postgraduate scholarships of $7,500 each to 29 male student-athletes and 29 female student athletes who participated in fall sports. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.
Bustanoby, a Virginia Beach, Va., native was a third-team All-America selection and was named the 2009 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year. As a senior, she posted a 12-8 record,and a 1.56 goals-against average. Over 20 games, she held opponents to 30 goals and helped notch five shutouts. Bustanoby is a two-time all-conference and all-West Region selection.
The Cardinals compiled a 12-8 overall record in 2009 and finished the season at No. 16 in the NFHCA Coaches' poll.
