The University of Louisville field hockey team will open the 2010 spring season with a trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, March 12-21. The Cards will depart from Louisville on Friday, March 12 and will practice and play against matches against area teams.
"Team Cardinal is so excited that the long awaited trip to Argentina has finally arrived!" said U of L head coach Pam Bustin. "After two years of raising funds, planning our itinerary and improving our game, I believe that we are prepared to enjoy and improve from the level of competition we will face. As the second ranked nation in women's field hockey, Argentina will provide this Louisville team with the exposure to international hockey that has only been seen from video. In addition, the wonderful people and fantastic culture that Argentina beholds should create the perfect experience for an overseas field hockey adventure! Thank you to all who helped make this important and appreciated trip possible. GO CARDS!"
The Cards will arrive in Buenos Aires on Saturday, March 13. After practicing on Sunday, Louisville will open four straight days of competition. On Monday, March 15 the Cards will play Club Atletico San Isidro (CASI). The following day, the Cards will face Gimnaisa y Esgrima Buenos Aires (GEBA).
