LOUISVILLE, Ky. - On Friday, March 12 at 6 p.m. ET, four Louisville women's rowers will shave their heads at St. Agnes Parish Church, located at 1800 Newburg Road, as part of St. Baldrick's Day, an event which raises money for pediatric cancer research and treatment.
Sarah Fiske, Katie Scordo, Samantha Seldon and Kelly Traynor will shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer to raise funds for pediatric cancer research.
St. Baldrick's Day started only 10 years ago with the goal to raise "$17,000 on the 17th" and quickly surpassed initial expectations by raising $104,000. The event has continued to grow and become the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research and funds more money in childhood cancer research than any other organization except the U.S. government. Last year, more than 30,000 people shaved their heads and raised more than $16 million.
The public is invited to join them in the fight against pediatric cancer (without even harming a hair on your head) by making a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation through any of the following links:

"I think, in your life, you're presented with very few opportunities to do something great and I feel like participating in St. Baldrick's is the biggest thing that I can do as a 21 year-old," said Scordo. "I think finding selflessness in the name of a cure is a good reason to be bald for a while."
The rowers look forward to the new speed they'll gain with their more aerodynamic haircuts and thank you for all of your support on the water and off.
