Football Players Involved in Toys for Tots
Louisville, Ky. - It's Christmas time in Louisville and the University of Louisville gave back a little to the community on Tuesday evening at the Trager Center.
The Cardinals, who are preparing for a trip to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl on Dec. 21, signed autographs for about 400 fans to benefit Toys for Tots.
Fans were encouraged to bring a toy that would be donated to Toys for Tots in exchange for autographs from the 2010 football team.
"We love giving back to the community," said senior quarterback Justin Burke. "This event is a lot of fun and gives us the opportunity to talk to the fans. We are lucky to have so much support from the fans in Louisville and we certainly appreciate their support."
Headed by head coach Charlie Strong's wife, Victoria, the entire team signed posters, helmets, flags and footballs for about an hour after workouts.
"This was a nice event," said senior wide receiver Doug Beaumont. "It was great to see our fans come out and we were able to interact with them for a little while. WE appreacite them so much for how they have supported us so its our way of saying thank you."
The team begins bowl preparations on Wednesday in the Trager Indoor Practice Facility.
