The Louisville Cardinal men's and women's swim teams will compete in the 2010 AT&T Short Course National Championships on Dec. 2-4 at the McCorckle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio on the Ohio State University campus. With the 2010 Short Course World Championships just around the corner, this meet will be key for the U.S. National Team selection.
"We are looking at Short Course Nationals and Long Course Invitational as an opportunity to qualify for NCAAs and the 2012 Olympic Trials," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero. "This is the largest squad we have ever brought to this level of competition and I am looking forward to learning more about this year's squad."
The Cardinals are sending 34 swimmers to compete.
The 19th nationally ranked Cards men's squad head into the event after posting home wins over BIG EAST rivals Pittsburgh and West Virginia. They followed that up with a third place performance at the Purdue Invitational in their last outing. They look to compete against several top ranked teams with California, North Carolina, and Indiana also scheduled to compete.
The 20th nationally ranked Cards women come in after placing second in the Purdue Invitational and look to carry the momentum to another strong outing against some of the elite competition in the NCAA. Like the men, the Cards women also started of the season with a pair of home wins dominating Pitt and West Virginia in season opening competition.
