
Men's Golf Captures Fourth Place at ODU

Powells Point, N.C. - The University of Louisville men's golf team earned their third top 10 finish of the fall season with their fourth place performance at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Intercollegiate at the par-72 6,535-yard Kilmaric Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals shot an 858 overall, their lowest tournament team score of the season by five strokes.
East Carolina dominated the 18-team field, shooting a 37-under 827 for the three-day tournament, finishing 23-strokes ahead of second place Richmond.
Senior Karsten Clements paced the Cardinals, placing in a tie for seventh, earning his first top 10 finish of the season. Clements fired a two-under par in the final round to finish the tournament at five-under, 68-73-70=211. Joining Clements in the top 10 was junior teammate Justin Dorward. Dorward finished in a tie for ninth, his sixth-career top 10 finish. Dorward used a third-round four-under par 68 to climb from 27th place, where he stood at the end of the second round. Dorward finished the tournament at three-under par, 72-73-68=213.
Junior Chris Biuso finished the tournament at one-under par, his lowest tournament score of the season. Biuso placed in a tie for 17th place, 70-69-76=215. Right behind Biuso was Sebastian Szirmak, who placed in a tie for 56th. Szirmak fired rounds of 73-72-79=224. Rounding out the Cardinal scoring was Chris Malec, who shot a two-over par 74 in the final round. Malec placed in a tie for 66th with scores of 77-76-74=227.
The Cardinals concluded their fall season at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Intercollegiate and will return to action at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Feb. 21.
