Women's Soccer Loses 1-0 at USF

TAMPA, Fla. - The Louisville women's soccer team started its four-game road stretch to close the regular season with a 1-0 loss at BIG EAST Conference foe USF on Friday night at the USF Soccer Stadium.
With the loss, the Cardinals dropped to 9-6-0 overall and 3-5-0 in league games, while the Bulls improved to 8-4-3 overall and 3-3-2 in BIG EAST action.
After the two teams played a scoreless first half, USF broke through for the game-winning goal in the 55th minute as Taylor Patterson took a pass from Venicia Reed at the near post, just outside the eight-yard box, and scored to the far post for the 1-0 lead. The goal was the fourth of the season for Patterson and what turned out to be her second game-winner of the season.
Overall, USF finished with an 18-13 advantage in shots, including a 7-4 edge in shots-on-goal, while corner kicks were even at three each. The Bulls were whistled for nine fouls, while the Cardinals finished with three. In goal, junior Taylor Vancil (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North HS) finished with six saves for Louisville, while Nicole McClure had four stops for USF.
