Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville men's golf coach Mark Crabtree announced that Chris Malec has joined the Cardinals this spring.
Malec, a sophomore, was the JUCO Division III national champion last year for Monroe Community College in up-state New York.
Additionally, he won the long drive championship at that same event and was recognized as a First Team All-American.
Malec, a native of Webster, N.Y., played for Webster High School where he was the 2006 Western New York Player-of-the-Year. Additionally, he was the New York High School Tournament of Champions medalist and finished in the top 15 at the 2009 New York State Amateur Championship.
"I am pleased to add Chris to the squad," said Crabtree. "He brings tremendous passion and a strong work ethic to the squad. He had a taste of big-time amateur golf this past summer and will prove to be a strong performer for the Cardinals in the very near future."
