
Field Hockey Falls to Duke 3-0

"I was very proud of our performance on the field today," said U of L head coach Pam Bustin. "It was a very competitive game. We just need bear down and finish on the attack and defensive end. This was a good starting point to build the on for the season."
The Blue Devils' Amie Survilla registered the first goal of the game as her penalty corner shot tipped off of a Cardinal defender's stick and got past goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby to put Duke on the scoreboard in the ninth minute of the game.
Lauren Miller converted a penalty stroke at the 14:48 mark to make it a 2-0 game. Duke entered the break with the 2-0 halftime lead, despite the Cardinals holding the edge in shots (4-3) and penalty corners (6-1).
Duke pulled ahead 3-0 when Miller notched her second goal of the game with just under four minutes remaining, as the Blue Devils took advantage of another penalty corner.
The teams were evenly matched with six goals apiece while the Cards held a 10-4 penalty corner advantage. Duke goalkeeper Samantha Nelson turned back five of Louisville's shots. Bustanoby had one stop in the game.
The Cardinals will play the loser of game between No. 8 Michigan State and Delaware at 11 a.m. Sunday.
