Louisville, Ky. - - The University of Louisville football team took advantage of the great weather by moving back outside on the grass for the 12th practice of the spring on Thursday.
It's the last practice before the Cardinals take a short break for the Easter holiday. The Cardinals will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week before Friday night's Annual Red-White game.
The Cardinals practiced for about two hours (22 periods) doing individual and a lot of team work.
The Cardinals instituted a couple of significant position changes on Thursday for the first time this spring. Junior Rock Keys, who played tight end last year and all of the spring, was moved to defensive tackle. According to defensive line coach Ken Delgado, "Rock can help us over there."
Red-shirt freshman Daniel Brown moved from safety to linebacker today as well.
During the team portion of the scrimmage on Thursday, safety Daniel Covington recoreded an interception on the sideline. Defensive end William Savoy, who played a little last season, was pretty impressive from his defensive end position.
Quarterback Zack Stoudt threw a short touchdown pass to Josh Chichester, who rebounded from a huge hit earlier from linebacker Chris Campa. Justin Burke also threw a short touchdown pass to Joe Tronzo.
Running back Victor Anderson returned to contact on Thursday and ran hard in team drills. Blayne Donnell continues to work hard and made a nice pick up on a blitz to prevent a sack.
"I thought we had good tempo today in practice," said head coach Steve Kragthorpe. "We got a lot done today and I like the way we are progressing. The attitude is good and the players are working very hard."
