Cards in Action at Trager Stadium April 4-5

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - After opening the 2009 spring season with a 5-0 record in the Longstreth Midwest Spring League, the University of Louisville field hockey team will be back in action April 4-5 at Trager Stadium.
The Cards will continue Longstreth Midwest Spring League play on Saturday, April 4 when they face Michigan State at 8:30 a.m. and Indiana at 4:05 p.m. U of L will then host a 7 v 7 tournament all day on Sunday, April 5.
On Saturday, April 4, the Cards will host Ball State, Indiana, Iowa, Miami, Michigan State and Ohio University in an eight game tournament that will start at 8:30 a.m. with the last game slated for a 5:15 p.m. start.
Sunday, April 5 will feature a 7 v 7 tournament with Iowa, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Missouri State, Northwestern, Ohio and Saint Louis. The format consists of two pools with four round robin games and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
U of L finished the 2008 season with a 14-7 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in the BIG EAST Conference en route to earning a share of their third straight regular season title. U of L spent the entire season in the NFHCA top 20, reaching as high as No. 11 and earning their second trip to the NCAA tournament.
