The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-2 to No. 24 ranked Southern Methodist University in the second match of the Via Christi Classic in Wichita.

The Cardinals dropped the doubles point after being swept in all three positions by the Mustangs. SMU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match after taking the doubles point and then the first two singles matches. First to fall was U of L's Lauren Imre at No. 2 when she retired during the second set. The Cards fell at No. 1 when Lindsey Jones was edged 6-4, 6-2. But the Cardinals rallied and got it to 3-2, with wins by Jo-Ann Van Aerde at No. 3 and Natalia Baez at No. 4. SMU sealed the match with Kseniia Tokarieva's win at No. 5.

The match was played under the "first-to-four" format rather than playing the match out. The match was played indoors at the Wichita Country Club after our 4 inches of snow last night.
