
Cardinals Conduct First Spring Scrimmage

Louisville, Ky. - - The University of Louisville football program conducted its first official scrimmage of the spring at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium at its Annual Junior Day.
The Cardinals conducted a 90-play scrimmage and went through various situations, including a full-staffed officiating crew.
Red-shirt freshman running back Darius Ashley shined on Saturday, carrying 17 times for 128 yards, including the play of the scrimmage. Ashley broke through the line, ran over a defender head on and continued to go 70 yards for a touchdown. Blayne Donnell also carried 17 times for 69 yards and had one touchdown.
Safety/cornerback Chaz Thompsom and Agyei Williams had interceptions for the Cardinals' defense. Under the direction of defensive coordinator Brent Guy, the Cardinals were laying big hits all afternoon, including a head-on collision between Brandon Heath and Ashley. Richard Raglin also made a huge hit on Troy Pascley on the goal-line.
Jon Dempsey broke free on a blitz and knocked the ball free from Justin Burke amd Dexter Heyman scooped it up and scored.
Andrell Smith caught a 10-yard touchdown from Zack Stoudt. Tyler Wolfe also connected with Drew Robinson on a well-conceived 13-yard score, while Adam Froman lofted a 24-yard score to Troy Pascley.
On the kicking side, Tim Dougherty booted a 22-yard field goal, while Chris Philpott had a 33-yarder.
