The University of Louisville Cardinal lacrosse team faces Lafayette College Wednesday at noon at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium.
The Cardinals are in the fourth game of a five game homestand and post a 4-1 record. After winning its first four games, Louisville fell 15-12 to No. 19 ranked Ohio State in a spirited matchup.
U of L is led by sophomore Bergan Foley, who was named to the BIG EAST Lacrosse Honor Roll for her performance for the week ending March 15. She totaled 11 goals and an assist in a 1-1 week for the Cardinals. She scored five goals and had an assist against then-No. 19/18 Ohio State on Mar. 14. The sophomore from Huntingdon Valley, Pa. has scored in 20 straight games.
Lafayette is seeking its first win at 0-7. The Leopards are coming off a loss to Lehigh last week.
After being held to just one goal in the opening half, the Lafayette offense erupted for six second-half goals. They were too little too late as the women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-7 setback to rival Lehigh. Lauren Brown led the Leopards' offense with a hat trick, scoring all three of her goals in the second period.
Leopard goalie Alexa Biale earned her fi rst start of the year and played a season-high 60 minutes. The rookie finished with double-digit saves (10), including six in the opening half.
