
Fathauer Begins Pro Career

HONOLULU, HAWAII - - Former University of Louisville Cardinal golfer Derek Fathauer will make his 2009 PGA Tour debut tomorrow at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The two-time All-American earned his PGA Tour card last month finishing tied for second at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in LaQuninta, Calif.
This will be Fathauer's third career PGA Tour event after playing in the 2007 Ginn Sur Mer Classic as a senior member of the Cardinal golf team and last summer's 2008 United States Open Championship at Torrey Pines.
This year's purse of $5.4 million dollars offers a winner's share of $972,000 for the 72-hole tournament at Waialae Country Club. Last year's champion, KJ Choi, posted 14-under par, 266, on the par 70 Seth Raynor design.
Fathauer begins play Thursday off No. 10 tee at 1:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. EST) with Aron Price and Tomohiro Kondo. Their second round tee time will be 9:30 a.m. (2:30 p.m. EST) off No. 1 tee.
The Golf Channel will provide four round coverage beginning each night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday - Sunday.
