
Men's Golf Tied for Lead at Cardinal Intercollegiate

Louisville, Ky. - - Through the first 36 holes of the Cardinal Intercollegiate, the host Louisville Cardinals (281-280=561) sit in a tie for first place with Denver (284-277) with a score of 561. The tournament is being played at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
Louisville and Denver are currently three shots ahead of Eastern Kentucky, who sits in third place with a score of 564. Indiana is fourth at 568 and Kansas is in fifth at 571.
Denver's Espen Kofstad was on fire through two rounds, shooting an 11-under par, 67-66=133. Trey Bowling of Eastern Kentucky is in second place with his 65-70=135.
The Cardinals shot 8-under par in the second round and a total of 15-under par for the first two rounds.
Senior Adam Hadwin was the Cardinals' top player, shooting a 7-under par 137 for the first two rounds of play. Hadwin opened the day with a first round score of 68 and followed that up with an afternoon score of 69 for 137. He stands in third place, just four shots back.
Sophomore Karsten Clements also played well by shooting 3-under par 141 and is tied for 10th. He shot 70-71=141 on the day. Playing as an individual, Lewis Kirton also fired 70-71=141 for the Cardinals and is also in 10th.
Freshman Justin Dorward finished the day with a two-under par 142. He shot 72 during the morning round and followed that up with a two-under par 70. He sits in a tie for 17th place.
Freshman Chris Biuso, who is tied for 23rd, opened his round with a 74 and came back to shoot a 3-under 69 to finish with a 1-under par 143. Freshman Riley Wheeldon carded an even par 70-74=144 and is in 25th place.
Freshman Connor Arendell is tied for 45th place after carding 71-78=149.
"The guys played well today," said head coach Mark Crabtree. We are right where we want to be heading into the final round. We received a lot of contributions from everyone. We are excited to be in this position and look forward to the final round of play."
The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Cardinal Club.
